YOGA FOR STRESS RELIEF

Stress… the ever-present part of modern life that has been implicated by medical science as a root cause in almost 100% of all human diseases (distance from ease), discomforts and disorders.  Our goal at Awaken, however, is not to eliminate stress in your life, not just because it would-be a futile attempt, but because stress in itself is not a bad thing –– it functions as a vital part of our nervous system that has kept us alive since the days when stress would alert us that we’re just about to be a Saber-Toothed Tiger’s lunch if we don’t bolt, now!

Stress can also be more subtle, indicating that our perceived needs have not been met, like when we’re overly hungry and hit a wall of stress that can make us crabby, short -tempered and not at all fun to be around. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We don’t have to be powerless in stressful situations… which brings up the point of our work in this realm: We help our clients change their response to all stresses, giving them practical and effective tools which offer a more healthy and empowered choice of to how to respond to the incessant turmoil that comes with living in our busy, noisy world.

Our teachings and therapies will help you learn about yourself, how you are wired, what triggers your stress response and how to change that. Over time, working with us will actually create new neural pathways in the brain, deprogramming the default reactions and rewriting long-held responses to stress. This is a good thing. You should do it. We’ll guide you each step of the way.
